What is Vocations Sunday?  Different things to different people.  If you go to the page of links to other denominations' web sites you will see that there are many different approaches.  But there is a common theme - that "vocation" is important, that it is important to look at our sense of calling and explore what it is that God wants us to do.

The URC has for many years suggested that study of vocations, which includes but is never limited to the call God gives to ordained ministry, can fittingly be positioned in the church year alongside the story of the call of the first disciples of Jesus.  Thus "Vocations Sunday" falls at the end of January.
